On this trip, you’ll get to see areas of Pakistan that are rarely visited by tourists, including the interior of Sindh, with its incredible picturesque rural scenery, and of course the spectacular mud volcanoes of Balochistan. Along the Indus Highway, you will see colorful trucks loaded with harvested crops passing by, and you can expect to get a warm welcome from locals at markets and villages. Indus Caravan has been exploring the mud volcano area of Balochistan since 2018, so you can rest assured that we will take you to all the best scenic spots. Itinerary

01
From Karachi, visit the Makli Necropolis at Thatta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Then, travel north along the Indus Highway to Sehwan Sharif. In the evening, witness the Dhamal ritual, which is held at the Shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar.

Travel from Sehwan Sharif to Mohenjo-daro. Along the way, you’ll be able to enjoy the scenery of the rural villages in the Sindh interior and glimpse the creative designs of the many trucks that pass by. After arriving at Mohenjo-daro, we’ll visit the archaeological site and museum. Finally, you can get a chance to view the Mohenjo-daro ruins in the evening.

In the morning, we will take the opportunity to visit the site once more, at a time when there are not many people around. Then, we’ll travel to Gorakh Hill, a scenic spot in the Kirthar Mountains. On the way, we’ll visit the camp of the Baloch —a group of people who typically wear traditional clothing and who live in these mountains. You’ll stay at a guesthouse on the mountain top at an altitude of 1,700m, where you can enjoy the magnificent mountain sunset and starry sky.

Return to Karachi. You can have dinner at a restaurant on Clifton Beach.

Travel west from Karachi in a 4WD vehicle to Kund Malir, a coastal village in Balochistan, which faces the Arabian Sea. In the afternoon, visit the Chandragup Mud Volcano area.

Take a full day to explore the mud volcano area at Buzi Pass and Hingol National Park.

Take another full day to explore the mud volcanoes on the coast of the Arabian Sea and in Hingol National Park. You’ll be able to enjoy a hike to the mud volcanoes.

Travel from Kund Malir to Karachi. We will stop at the Ghadani ship breaking yard on the way.

* After heavy rainfall, some mud volcano areas cannot be approached by 4WD.
* Combinations with other parts of Balochistan are possible. The locations can be visited depend on the security situation and the permits. Please contact us for latest information.

* <Important Notice> To enter Balochistan, you need to obtain a permit specifying the places you will visit. For this reason, you will need to submit your tourist visa ahead of time. Permits will not be issued for passports other than ordinary passports or for business visas. It takes about a month to obtain a permit.
* <Important Notice> In Balochistan, you will be accompanied by a security escort provided by the local police.
* The rest house in the Mohenjo-daro ruins is an old building with simple facilities. Also, as it is a government-run facility, it may be closed off at short notice. * The accommodations at Gorakh Hill are very simple. Please note that you will need to bring a torch and a sleeping bag.
* Accommodations in Kund Malir will be either in a hotel with simple facilities, or in a private camp.
